1.请形容一下你的创作方向和兴趣。

人性和世界。


2.你的出生地是目前的居住地(广州市)吗?

是。


3.你目前的创作和居住地有多大的关系?

广州是个温吞的城市。温吞让人感到舒适,也会让人反感从而变得极端。我经常在这两种感受之间摇摆。但目前没有打算做很具体的关于广州文化的作品。


4.在你的创作中似乎有很多和"被观看"有关的部分?

可能因为我自恋。


5.这种"被观看"中包括了许多心理的过程,特别是对"被注视的对象"似乎同时也是被期待着具备某种功能、包含特定符号或者某种特长的对象。

对。搞清楚自己想要传达的信息,和其他人能不能有效地接受自己传达出的信息是很重要的事情。


6.在你创作中很多"被观看"的对象通常会和商品化的对象联系在一起?

不能被消费(这里指各种层面的消费)的艺术是无效的艺术。


7.你怎样看待品牌和商品化?

每个人都是一个品牌。有品牌自然有商品。


8.你觉得商品话语对人的心理影响力有多大?

很多人都向往把自己变成一个热销商品。


9.你认为你的创作是愤怒的吗?

包含愤怒但不限于愤怒。


10.最希望他人了解你哪个/哪些作品?

《愚蠢的无畏/智慧的迟疑》。是一张由两个朝向不同但完全一样的人脸组成的画。我认为目前这张画最能代表我的心理状态和个人价值取向。

Probably Because I'm A Narcissist

Q1: Describe a little bit about the focus of your art works and interests, please.

A: Humanity and the world.


Q2: Is your birthplace also your current residency (Guangzhou)?

A: Yes.


Q3: How are your current art works related to where you live?

A: Guangzhou is a mild city. Mildness puts people at ease. Such quality also can disgust one person, thus leading him/her to go to extremes. Very often I'd waver between these two feelings. However, currently speaking, I have no specific plans of doing works on Guangzhou culture.


Q4: It seems that a lot of your works are about "being watched".

A: Probably because I'm a narcissist.


Q5: "Being watched" involves a lot of psychological activities. In particular, "the subjects being watched" also appear to be the subjects that are expected to possess certain functionality, contain specific symbols, or be equipped with some sort of specialty.

A: True. It's of great importance to figure out what messages you want to deliver, and to get those messages across efficiently to the recipients.


Q6: Among your works, many of the subjects "being watched" are usually tied to the commercialized subjects.

A: An art work, if not consumable (including consumption of all sorts), is null.


Q7: How do you look at brands and commercialization?

A: Every one of us is a brand. Brands naturally stand for commodities.


Q8: In your opinion, how influential can the commodity subtexts be on people's mind?

A: A lot of us long to turn ourselves into a best-selling product.


Q9: Do you think your works are angry?

A: My works contain anger, but not just anger.


Q10: Which works of yours do you want others to know of most?

A: Stupid Fearlessness/Wise Hesitation. It's a painting in which there are two identical human faces facing opposite directions. From my perspective, this painting is so far the best representation of my psychological state and values.

陈拍岸生于1988年,2013年毕业于广州美术学院。自2014年至今从事观念艺术创作,目前工作生活于广州。

其作品多以文字图像结合的形式出现,创作媒介涉及绘画、数码图像及影像等。广告公司、装潢公司和快时尚公司的工作经历,使他格外关注消费世界中广告和包装图像下商品与人的互生关系。陈拍岸的作品具有强烈的诙谐视觉语言和逻辑。

Chen Paian born in 1988, graduated from Gaungzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 2013. Works with conceptual art since 2014, currently living and working in Guangzhou.

Chen always works with digital image editing, literature, digital drawing and video. His experience of working for an advertisement company, a decoration company and a fast fashion company makes him realize symbiotic relationships among well-promoted product, perfect-rendering commercial advertisement and deluded consumer. His humorous visual language and logic brings his works a very special sense of story-telling to represent symbiotic relationships.
