双胞姐妹神婆组合 山河跳！（黄山，黄河）于公元二零一七年六月降神美国纽约，在位于曼岛唐人街的 SLEEPCENTER 举行 斗法 仪式。

山河跳！Mountain River Jump! 是由1985年出生的双胞胎艺术家黄山、黄河的组成的艺术小组，2016年底在广州诞生。山河跳！不避讳直接谈论至今依然处于半地下状态的民间话题，如轮回、星相学、卡牌占卜、幽灵传说、神话构成等等，探讨兴趣穿梭古今中外，从民间信仰出发探讨官方话语，并对当今现实进行语言和图像的“精神分析”。其创作形式包括讲座、互动工作坊、占卜行为、声音、静态或动态的视觉作品。过往项目包括：斗法 (展览、互动式研讨会、唐人街宗教场所考察，SLEEPCENTER，纽约，2017)、人间传说之动物成语占卜卡 (群展“原地前进”，长征空间，北京，2017)、 寓言帐篷：塔罗与占星 (讲座与互动工作坊，OCAT深圳馆，2016)，双感应 (展览、系列讲座、集体音乐会，五楼空间，广州，2016)；媒体文献包括Art Forum网站 (展评，2017)、ArtAsiaPacific网站 (采访，2017)，《美术文献》(2016年第10期)。
Mountain River Jump! is an artist-duo founded in 2016 by identical twin sisters Huang Shan and Huang He, both of whom were born in 1985. Mountain River Jump! like to discuss topics like samsara, astrology, card divination, ghost stories, mythology, etc., which are all denied officially in our secular context. Their interest covers the ancient and the modern. They apply lingual and visual “cultural psychoanalysis” to the reality nowadays and try to access the official utterance through the research of folk beliefs. Their practices include a range of media from static visual works to moving images, lectures, workshops, divination behaviors, and sound. Past projects of Mountain River Jump! include Reality Check (Exhibition, interactive discussions, religious sites visiting in China Town, Sleepcenter, New York, 2017), Legends in Human World / Cards of Chinese Animal Idioms (Group exhibition, Marching in Circles, Long March Space, Beijing, 2017), Fortune Teller's Tent- Tarot and Horoscope (Lecture and participatory workshop, OCAT Shenzhen, 2016), Mutual Telepathy (Exhibition, lectures and concert, 5 Art Space, Guangzhou, 2016). The original god of Journey in ancient China is to bless those who are on the road. Now we transform its style into a more modern way combine with cartoon style. The antenna on its head will make sure signal of internet and cell phone works well. The wing-shape-ears mean that travelers will communicate fluently along the way. Multiple feet and muscular arms are vigorous enough to face the luggage load and the exhaustion brought by trek. It is a powerful god whose duty is to ensure the smoothly of your journey.

I try to recreate a brand-new system of card games. It is a mixture of Immortals Wine Cards from ancient China and Tarot Cards from the west. Individual identities are differentiate by their jobs. Here, I let the Chinese Immortals become someone else due to their duties. They are celebrities, virtual figures, normal workers, etc.

种族冲突、贫富不均、性别不平、经济衰退、劳资纠纷、动荡骚乱等抽象词汇被赋予具象躯壳，在电脑屏幕里的RGB三原色光烈焰中焚烧。中国失传的新火节如今在纽约唐人街复活，古老的五色火衍化为显示器三色光火焰，各自的肩负着更加重大的历史使命。Abstract words like racial conflict, economic inequality, gender inequality, pollution and energy consumption become the five-evils including centipede, snake, spider, toad and scorpion. They are burning in the RGB-colored fire. The new fire festival which was disappear in modern China is now reborn in Chinatown. The ancient five-colored-fire which represent the five-element is simplified as the three screen colors. This flaming has a heavier historical mission to accomplish.
精神分析之父/之母与之子 The Father / Mother And The Son Of Psychoanalysis

Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, is the authority of human beings’ mind. Many of his opinion were quite male oriented, one of the most famous one was that he supposed female want to own male genital organs. To me, Freud somehow had fed human’s mind, in that sense, he could be a mother. His ash was put in an ancient Greek urn, a metaphor for mother’s body, according to his will. I guess that he was eager to have or should have a pair of breasts. It could be fun.
I also put breast-like red lamps in front of Freud’s portrait, like anyone can pray to this father of psychoanalysis.

It is related to the Chinese ancient mythical animal, Golden Crow, Jin Wu, which was a black bird lived in the Sun.

I would like to share with others two occult stories, they happened during the times of cultural revolution in China. One story came from the interview between Wang Wei and Die Gui, who are both my net friends. The other was told by my relative, Aunt Icy, she works as a public servant.
After 1976 I went back to work. At that time, everyone was talking about what happened in the past 10 years of the Cultural Revolution. One of my colleagues told me that he knew someone who participated in a pidou hui (public persecution). This man painted the hands of the "persecution targets" into black with ink, and accused them as the"black hands behind the stage", a Chinese idiom referring to evil backstage manipulator in dark.He accused many government officials as “black hands”, and then prosecuted them. A few years later, the man had a baby, whose skins on hands and arms are black, much darker than the rest of his body, looks like wearing a pair of black gloves. The kid never wears short sleeves clothes. This story is told by a relative of mine.

In Rio 2016 Olympic Games, a wrong Chinese flag was raised by Rio officials at a medal ceremony. This was the first time many of the Chinese people knew about a certain detail design of the Chinese national flag, so did I. Then I had a discovery, our national flag in the modern times is actually a star chart. What is more, the way how the stars are placed on the flag is related to the role of Polaris played in feudal times in Chinese history, which had represented the emperor for very long time. Then, the number of the stars, five, is a very important number in Zhou Yi theory. I have been interested in astrology and divination for a long time. I made this great discovery into video and put up a flawed national flag sticker near it which I bought from internet.

I tried to make the Diagram of River Luo with tape. The image was broken and abstract because of the lack of knowledge and memories.

Along with the exhibition Reality Check, there was a field research activity led by Lin Rui and Li Peiyuan, in which Mountain River Jump! and several observers visited more than 10 religious sites in the area of China Town, New York. We called it “a formal visit of respect to the Dock” . Everyone shared his or her own opinions at the top of Trump Tower as the final stop of the day.
Except for card divination at the exhibition space, there was a discussion named “The Ideal Form of Beliefs”. Participants talked about topics around "beliefs", personal experiences, the paradox of security & freedom, the complex situation within groups of certain religions, the problems of the institutionalised processes of beliefs, community beliefs vs individual practice, the possibilities to have one's own choice in a collective context. Finally, we came to the conclusion that, to have the freedom is considered to be the vital point.
SLEEPCENTER, located on the harmonious Monroe street of Chinatown, New York, is an interdisciplinary lab for art and ideas that provides local communities and international audiences with a forum for cultural dialogue.
