金山软件前反病毒工程师,文俊杰在他的个人简历很正经认真地写道。或许他并非在强调一种身份的特殊性,而是表明这段从业经历对他艺术实践的影响。事实上,通过这个展览的作品,我们可以明显看到,电子信息科技领域的内容的确构成了文俊杰作品中一些直接来源。不过,工程师规范严谨的职业精神在他的创作实践里面却几乎不见了踪迹。从这些作品中我们反而感觉到一种散漫随性、轻松跳跃的特性。就这种反差,我们估计一下,他当初有可能是因为嬉于业务而被人辞退的。


Wen Junjie, the former anti-virus engineer of Kingsoft, has written very seriously in his personal resume that maybe he doesn’t stress the peculiarity of his identity but to demonstrate the influence of this experience in his career to his arts practice. In fact, we can find out apparently that the content of the domain of electronic information technology has indeed composed some of the direct origins in Wen Junjie’s works by the works displayed in the fair. Nevertheless, the discreet and principled professional spirit of engineers has almost no trace in his practice of creation. On the contrary we can feel an unorganized and casual characteristic of relaxation and discontinuousness from these works. In terms of this contrast, we evaluate that he might be dismissed because of his casualness on his business at that time.

当然,这是一个玩笑,但某种程度上也折射出文俊杰在创作题材和方法上的取向。“数据星空”就是源自一种职业习惯。艺术家通过将0-9、ABCDEF这些用于计算机系统运作的数据字符提取组合,用黄色标示其中几个字符组合成BED、CAFE等日常性英文单词,再与其它字符组合成类似于星群的平面阵距,配合黑色的背景,枯燥乏味的数据似乎变得耐人寻味了。


Of course this is a joke, but also reflects the direction of creation themes and methods of Wen Junjie to some extent. The Starry Sky Of Data exactly comes from a professional habit of some kinds. By extracting and combining the data and characters used in the system operation of the computers such as 0-9, ABCDEF etc., the artists mark some of the characters in yellow and produce the daily English words such as BED, CAFÉ etc.. Then they combine a plane matrix resembling a star cluster with other characters in the black background, which makes the dull data seem to become intriguing.

用来存储数据的硬盘也因为艺术家嵌入的几颗不规整的珍珠,使得我们习以为常的科技感和工业感变得无以名状。当然艺术家或许并非指向对工业化信息化的所谓批判形态。就像另外一件作品那样,艺术家只是玩耍般随手弄来两个衣服袖子,塞进些填充棉,扎成两个球状的东西,并三句不离本行地把它们命名为“两颗存储球”。虽然运用这些信息技术的核心元素展开创作,曾经的IT工程师似乎无意让它们变得更加智能化和高深莫测,而是将其转化为一些轻松随意、颇有想象力的东西。


The hard disk used for storing data has made our accustomed sense of technology and industry become hard to express because of a few irregular pearls the artists has inserted. Of course the artists may not aim at the so-called critical forms against industrialization and informatization. Like another creation, the artists only fetch two sleeves as playing in ease, stuffing some wadding, bundling it into two balls, and name them as Two Storing Balls with jargons that they used to say. Utilizing these core elements of information technology to create things, the former IT engineer has no intention to change them into more intelligent and enigmatic things, but to transform them into the things that are casual, relaxing and imaginative.

现在,我们的生活很大程度上闪烁和滑动于一个物理意义上的平面之中。基于计算机及手机等屏幕界面的生活形态越来越依赖于触感的支撑,同时也越来越显得机械和程式。文俊杰有不少作品是围绕屏幕界面这个平面生活语境展开的。在“谢谢”、“一条消息、另一条消息、最新消息”等作品里,艺术家将一些略带荒诞的作品方案、文本信息以及无明显关联的声音素材穿插组合在一起,并以屏幕录制的方式再次展现出来。


Now, our life flickers and slips over a plane physically defined to a great extent. The life state based on the interface of screen such as computers and mobile phones depends more and more on the support of tactile impression, and become more and more mechanical and routine. Many works of Wen Junjie are unrolled concerning the context of plane life of screen interface. In his works Thank YouA Message, Another Message, the Latest Message etc., the artist shuffles and combines some slightly ridiculous scheme, text information and obviously unrelated sound material together and presents it again with the method of screen recording.

“向补墙工人学习绘画”更是直接就把电脑显示屏当作画板,将一栋楼房外墙上偶然形成的似鸟形状用油性笔直接画在了屏幕上。面对着这种习以为常的平面生活,这些作品玩味地以其之道还治其之身,提供了一种跳脱的反观,以一种充满趣味性、异化感的方式让我们加强了对这种生活形态的回望 。信息技术相关的元素对于文俊杰来说有些时候是一个提供想象的路径,他会选择在这些元素里绕个弯,然后回到有血有肉的日常生活。


Learning Painting From Wall-mending Worker has even treated the computer screen as a drawing board directly -- drawing a bird-like shape formed by accident on the outside wall of a building directly with an oily pen on the screen. In the face of this accustomed plane life, these creations intriguingly takes advantage of its own features to provide a snatchy review and let us strengthen the reflection of the life form of this kind in a way full of enjoyments and sense of dissimilation. The related elements of information technology sometimes are a way inspiring imagination to Wen Junjie. He will choose to detour in these elements, then return to the fleshy daily life.

“娟儿和俊爷”就是这样,艺术家在某区域搜到了两个Wifi信号,一个名叫娟儿,另一个名叫俊爷。他却把主意最终放在了这两个通俗的名字上,并据此打造了一对情侣戒指。


Juan’er and Junye is the example -- the artist has searched and discovered two wifi signals, one is called Juan’er, another is Junye. He fulfilled his idea with these two popular names finally and casted a pair of lover rings.

在展览前期的沟通交流中,文俊杰强调他设想这个展览在色彩基调上呈现出一种黑色和银色的冷峻感。 这种意识或许是来源于曾经的职业经历所接受到的科技感和工业感的熏陶,自然也为他的创作提供了一种真实的前提和体会。除此之外,更好的一点是: 这些作品让我们感受到了一些人和生活的味儿。



During the communication of the former part of the fair, Wen Junjie emphasized that he assumes this fair can demonstrate a cold sense by black and silver on the keynote of color. This kind of awareness may come from the immersion of the sense of technology and industry accepted during the former professional experience which naturally provides a real premise and understanding for his creation. Except for this, the better point is that these creations have made us feel the sense of mankind and life.

文俊杰,永州籍珠海艺术家,1980年出生于湖南永州,2004年毕业于中南大学计算机系,金山软件前反病毒工程师,现居广州。专注于数字行为痕迹的研究和实践,借鉴过往反病毒工作中的观察和分析视角以及因此获得的病毒行为方法,以添加、修改、删除、提取、移动、组合为内核,探索数字技术发展带来的行为形态多样化,测试不同行为方法之间的表现差异,并从中获得启示。从程序员转向艺术家的最初五年,以身体为样本,在多个地点进行移动,跨度最大的一次是在全国32个城市73个人那生活了455天,后逐步将研究和实践转回数字领域,涉及网页浏览、操作表演、痕迹装置等媒介。

Wen Junjie was born in 1980 at Yongzhou of Hunan Province and became an artist in Zhuhai. He graduated from the computer department of Central South University in 2004. In the past, he was IT security specialist of anti-virus engineer in Kingsoft and now he is living in Guangzhou. He focuses on studying and practicing the digital behavior trace, learning from the observation and analysis aspects of anti-virus to obtain the virus behavior rules. He works based on appending, modifying, deleting, extracting, moving and combining as the kernel to explore digital technology development which brings the diversification and test performance distinction between different behavioristic methods and then gain some revelations. At the first five years, when he transferred from a programmer to an artist, he took his body as a carrier and moved to multiple locations to experience life. The biggest moving was that he lived with 73 families in 32 cities of the whole country for 455 days and then gradually he switched research and practice back to digital areas which involve web surfing, demonstration, trace device and other media.
